Holiday trip to Uvongo

Hey team, I write this email while on holiday and was unable to send it, so some of the news is a lil old. Well ash and I travelled back on Tuesday and after a week of not much sun, the last two days at home have been beautiful!

Hope alls well and everyone has a great Christmas and as soon as I can I will get some great photos up

Love Chris & Ash

Well over 1 month has passed and I am now sitting on the coast of Durban having a nice cold castle beer, enjoying a summer holiday for 6 days.

Anyway it’s been close to 2 weeks since I last emailed so I thought I better let ya’s know how I’m getting on. Anyway I will quickly start from the start and get onto the important stuff like our holiday destination and what we have brought the family for Christmas presents.

Anyway following my last email the next few days were pretty busy with finalising the holiday programmes for the boys and ensuring I was sorted up until the end of January so I’m not rushed when I get back in early Jan. I had been spending 13-14 hours a day at work or at the hotel writing up these programmes following completing all my training sessions so I was starting to get pretty tired. Anyway Thursday came around and we gave all the boys their information and I was off to the airport to pick up ash!

Anyway on Thursday the 6th of December at 3.30pm, it was when ash’s flight was meant to come in. Well 2 and a half hours at the airport flew passed so fast (yeah right) lol as her flight had been delayed. Anyway once she turned up we quickly got her to the car and we were on our way home (I don’t think she thought much of my car as it was parked next to a Jag! (photo’s of car are shown on blog somewhere).

Anyway the first few days entailed a few sleeps, a little bit of time at work however the majority was spent showing ash around. I have put photos up and I hope you’s all would like to have a quick look. As I know, sometimes photos of others aren’t the most interesting but some of the country side I will put up from around the upper parts of South Africa and down through the Free State and Durban are spectacular.

Anyway following a few sleeps and quite a bit of eating out as I was trying to make a good impression lol like that’s what the norm is (we do eat out a lot and drink a lot of coffee but not everyday), we headed for Bloemfontein to spend a couple of days with Neil and Zonja Du Plessis. I had to head down to complete a couple of things with Neil (Neil was in my position before heading to the Cheetahs in the Super 14). Anyway spent Monday and Tuesday testing and working with the Cheetahs and seeing how things are run down there and at a Franchise that big. I was really surprised as our set up was a lot nicer however they are currently renovating the old stadium and soon things should be pretty nice.

Anyway following Tuesday morning we decided to head off for Uvongo (Beach on the Durban coast of Africa). Little did we know that Durban was over 600km from Bloem as I had been told it was about 6.5-7 hours in total to get to Uvongo. Anyway after 4 and a half hours we decided to stop at this motel called the Pyramids motel. It was really nice and had amazing views (Photos are shown below). Anyway Wednesday morning we heading off to our final destination of Uvongo and after 4 and a half more hours of travelling (9hours total but we did stop a couple of times for short breaks) we were at our holiday apartment.

Anyway on the way down the scenery changed from dry rocky open flat land into beautiful green native types of land with mountains (not huge ones like MT Egmont) and lakes and rivers (Mum and Dad if you can save enough money just for flights over sometime I will take you through the trip we took and show you all the amazing things along the way). Anyway it was really beautiful and I got told off for taking to many photos of the land side as ash said 10 was really nice but she thought 40 was a bit much but I told her what I thought of that comment lol. Oh and some of their roads over here are made out of concrete (main toll roads) (they may be in NZ but I haven’t seen them).

Anyway we are here now and at the moment the sun is shining so heading to the beach now. We went to Margate this morning to the beach and they had all these stalls, (kinda like a market) and Mum and Mary, we brought you’s a couple of things so I’m sure you will like them.

Anyway for today this is enough I think and if you’s have any questions about what I’m up to or just want to say hello, I would love to hear from you’s. Have a great Christmas and take care

Lots of love Chris
